Guardianship
We have a small guardian program helping and ensuring breed development. ONLY for some very special Committed dog loving families couple or singles with a focus on socializing training and providing a safe Fun filled lifetime of experience.
You must have an interest in Our breed Strategies willing to advocate, Educate, participate sharing photos and experiences. There are many benefits Being connected to Siblings and or progeny with Occasional socializing ongoing, training and grooming health support an exciting experience to participate inĀ Mylowannalees breeding Strategy. you become a part of the tribe.
They are carefully selected Temperament tested, human focus, health testing DNA, and meet the MDBA standards. This ensures the success of our program moving forward.
As a guardian home you’re the permanent home!
Having the puppies go into their forever home is a more holistic approach to our breeding program, Keeping the dog’s best interests at heart The dogs are able to complete the duties of working (Ie wellbeing or therapy) and socializing in their normal everyday lives fun family life . On some occasions, we may choose to keep more than one guardian and you may have a selection or choice.
Does it cost to become a guardian?
These Hand selected quality Puppies or Young adult, or adult dogs, for the opportunity to be involved there is no are initial purchase by way of compensating for their contribution to our program.
What expenses are guardians responsible for?
Guardians are responsible for the regular care including, lifetime Health insurance, providing quality food, toys bedding and normal veterinary healthcare. Normal Warming, Pro Heart Injection, Booster vaccinations, Regular professional grooming Unless they opt to do it themselves. Occasional travelling to Brisbane for required qualifying health cheques. There is no expense regarding breeding to the Guardian or these health testing,
I’ve taken on a guardian but now I don’t want him or her to breed.
Becoming a guardian home is a huge commitment and decision this should not be taken lightly please keep in mind there is a full legal contract retaining ownership of the dog until they are retired from our program guardians have legal obligations following the contract our dogs are high quality and have been hand selected to benefit and improve the diversity and direction of the breed in development. Please consider your commitment carefully.
My puppy didn’t qualify for the program what happens now!
If the dog does not qualify to our Expectation for diversity and the development of Australian Cobberdogs, the dog will be retired from the program you will not be required to pay any fees the dog will be neutered or spayed at our expense then full ownership will be transferred over to you.
To qualify for a guardian home
.
* You must be willing to agree with the Contract of guardianship.
* You must ensure that the breeding dog kept safe from harm example Dog Parks.
* If a female guardian you must ensure to keep her safe from unwanted pregnancies.
* Have plenty of time for socialization, and training positive reinforced only.
* Allowing the dog to be indoors and part of everyday family environment .
* Provide a healthy level of stimulating age-appropriate fun activities.
* Avoid unnecessary jumping from or up to heights and limiting stairs.
* Report any concerns. Illness or accident with open and honest communication,
* Provide a safe and secure yard with good fencing away from driveways.
* Always present the dog in a well-groomed mana for public showing.

Basic outline of the program.
These adult dogs after Full health testing and qualifying, come back to us for puppy duties (litters and mating)
Dam (females), the first litter happening around the age of 2 years old. Maximum litters 3 Maximum age group 5yo. However, it will be considered and taken into consideration the health and wellbeing of the mother sometimes she may only have one letter and retired.
Studs (male) remain in the program a lot longer. Breeding age preferred around 2 years of age And maximum 7yo. However, for many different reasons we may consider taking this parentage line out of our program.
Our puppy mums will come to our home (regular visitations are recommended to make sure she feels comfortable, your vacation times are also a good opportunity for me to bond with her), Once decided breeding will occur she will return to us on two occasions for mating and whelping / raising their puppies, once puppies are fully weaned, we will slowly move mum back to her normal duties in your home or workspace. Once she has completed her breeding obligations (3 litters with all factors taken into consideration) she is released from the program.
There can be some travel at this time for regular veterinary appointments.
for stud’s the ability to travel at short notice is required and or be happy to leave him with us for the day or you attend with him to appointments. For females’ Initial AI or TCI appointment, health checkups and ultrasound during pregnancy.
